Pre-School
In both nurseries we have spacious and well equipped Pre-School rooms for children aged 3-5 years
Within our Pre-School rooms we have a wide range of equipment and resources to support the children’s individual learning. They have access to spacious outdoor areas and we offer additional sports sessions to all Pre-School children. At Gravesend Nursery we are able to offer French to the Pre-School Children. We aim to help and support your child/ren to make the big transition into Primary School and we liaise with local schools to support their smooth transition.

Routine
In preparation for starting school, this room follows a similar structure to what they will experience in a Reception Class. Children will be encouraged to use and develop their independent self-help skills.

Small Group Time
Children will be working in small groups on their own or with an adult, participating in games and activities that are designed to encourage children to share, take turns and develop their communication and speech skills.

Large Group Time
The children spend time in a large group, participating in PE sessions, singing, music and movement, craft or cooking activities. Once a week “Arsenal Soccer Schools” come to encourage children to join in physical activities.

Preparation for School
We endeavour to prepare your child for school by getting them to recognise and to try to write their name; getting them to know their colours, shapes and numbers in different ways; as well as learning about the world around them and developing their physical skills. We also encourage independence and try to get your child to put on their own shoes and coat, be helpful around the room and learn to deal with their toileting needs and hygiene.

Outings
We try to include all the children in outings and these will coincide with the themes of the setting. Letters will go out each time an outing is booked. Please note when travelling by college minibus you must provide a car seat.
“The staff at Bright Beginnings have been brilliant and caring since my daughter started about 6 weeks ago – her speech has come on so much she can now hold a conversation! Brilliant staff that I cannot fault.”
